I never had just one dream job. At different times, I dreamed of being a detective, a fashion designer, or legendary soccer player, Mia Hamm (cute, right?). Now, in my late twenties, I realize I’ve worn a lot of different hats, trying to chase down the answer to the age-old question: What do I want to be? But somewhere along the way, I started asking a better one: Who do I want to be?
Then it hit me—it was always less about the job title and more about the feeling. I wanted to feel curious, moved, challenged, useful, and like myself. I realized I didn’t need a single, shiny answer. I needed something I could sustain—something that let me problem-solve and kept me on my toes. And when I looked at the work that allowed me to be that version of myself, design kept coming up.
That’s what led me to commit to a life of art and design—because even on my worst days, a huge part of me still manages to get creative.
